The Port is investigating an instrument approach to meet Med Evac needs.

The Port is investigating adding a weather station and instrument approach to meet Med Evac needs.  These improvements will upgrade the ability of Lopez Airport, by allowing approaches during poor weather for emergency medical flights. After preliminary finding from the current Master Plan update, the commission rejected west side off airport weather station locations due to negative impact to airport topography and the impact to neighbors and will explore onsite airport locations during the 2019 Environmental Assessment. The evaluation and airport upgrade will be funded 90% with FAA airport improvement funds, 5% WASDOT and 5% local Port funds.
